Library

The Athens School of Fine Arts Library plays a critical role in supporting and promoting education and research in the Visual Arts and in Modern Greek and International Art History.

With the services it offers, the Library makes a significant contribution to art education in general and to the promotion of Greek Art on both a national and international level.

The Library’s success in achieving its objectives is the result of thorough research and planning. These objectives are accomplished by ensuring its services are staffed by the right people, procuring the appropriate equipment, expanding and enriching its collections, improving its efficiency and services by adopting new technologies, organising international art conventions, seminars and other educational events addressed to members of the academic community and the wider public and digitalising several primary and other sources of information in order to preserve and disseminate valuable and often unique information through the internet with the focus on making Modern Greek Art as widely available as possible.

Nowadays, the ASFA Library is the largest art library in Greece, with 10 permanent members of staff, 21 computer workstations, 85 reading/study places, 45,000 volumes and extensive audiovisual material.
